The city of Dahlonega (/dəˈlɒnɪɡə/) is the county seat of Lumpkin County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 5,242.

Stephenson tried to persuade miners to stay in Dahlonega instead of joining the California Gold Rush, saying, “There’s millions in it,” often misquoted as “There’s gold in them thar hills.”
