OSHA 10 Hour Outreach Training Course

– What skills should the student expect to learn?

The OSHA 10 hour outreach training courses are designed to increase Hazard Awareness and avoidance through an introduction to OSHA and OSHA standards. The 10 hour courses focus on the basic and common safety hazards including employer and employee requirements.
All OSHA outreach courses include at least an hour introduction to OSHA which includes  how they were established, who they are, what they do, how the inspection process works, penalties and reporting to OSHA.

Required General Industry Topics include :

Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection – 1 hour.
Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection – 1 hour.
Electrical Safety – 1 hour.
Personal Protective Equipment – 1 hour.
Hazard Communication – 1 hour
Hazardous Materials – chemical safety, flammable liquids
Materials Handling – forklifts, cranes, rigging
Machine Guarding
Introduction to Industrial Hygiene – Silica, Noise
Bloodborne Pathogens
Ergonomics – Safe lifting, back safety
Safety and Health Program
Safety Leadership
Other Topic of choice  1 hour or less

Construction Topics include:

Focus Four 4 hours
               Electrical Hazards
               Struck By
               Caught in Between
PPE -1 hour
Health Hazards -1 hour
Cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators and conveyors
Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal
Hand and Power Tools
Fall Protection
Other Topic of Choice 1 hour or less

10 hour outreach training courses  are a great starting point for workers in any aspect of construction, manufacturing, warehousing, maintenance and service industries. All American workers can benefit from the general knowledge contained in this course.

– Are any exams required for OSHA 10 hour training courses?

10 hour course exams are up to the instructors discretion – There are oral quizzes throughout the training

– How often does the student need to retake the class?

OSHA Construction and General Industry cards do not expire. It is recommended that you refresh every 4 years.

– In what ways can we/do we customize the class to each client so they know that their employees will get what they need, and not random topics?

OSHA Outreach training is structured around a strict outline of topics. Bermac’s outreach trainers experience allows them to tailor information as much to the clients experiences We work with the client to choose the electives that will most benefit each client.
